Artist Helping Artist welcomes Carol Hickman. Carol has been involved in the arts for some 30 years. She taught classes in
Richmond, Va. for 12 years before moving to the Villages in 2006. She fell in love with watercolor in 1980 when she tried it for the first time. Her favorite subject is flowers, which are a perfect match with watercolors.
Carol’s love of nature is captured in the rich coloration she achieves in her work. Her delicate touch is evident in her attention to the finest detail . This can be seen in her realistic development of a variety of flowers and garden scenes. Her award winning paintings hang in many private and public collections throughout the country and abroad.
In the AHA workshop she will be teaching artists to paint a clematis flower in pink. She will teach methods for painting flowers to make them look soft and delicate. Basic watercolor paints are required. Artists are asked to have the flowers sketched out on watercolor paper (a pattern will be posted on the VAA web site) and have the stamens in the center of the flowers covered with masking fluid before class starts.
A $2.00 donation will be accepted at the door.
